Dear all,
I'm just writing to let you know about a possible funding scheme you may be unaware of. The ExpeER project is a European infrastructure scheme for ecosystem experiments which includes funds available for short research visits to experimental sites. One of these experimental sites is Whim Moss- a fantastic nitrogen experiment just south of Edinburgh. Whim is run by my colleague Lucy Sheppard at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology. Together we have developed a short project looking at the impacts of different nitrogen forms on peatland testate amoebae. We had a Spanish researcher lined up to come to Scotland to do this project but unfortunately they had to drop out. I was wondering if any of you or your students might be interested in applying to ExpeER with this project? We were thinking of maybe a six week visit with fieldwork at Whim, laboratory work at CEH in Edinburgh and advice on testates (if required) from me at Stirling. The success rate for ExpeER is good and we have the outline application already written. Details of eligibility are on the ExpeER website but essentially encompass anyone within the EU and affiliated countries at
all levels of seniority from PhD students upwards.
If you might be interested in this, or know anyone else who might be
please drop me or Lucy a message.
Cheers,
Richard
PS The site won't let me post links to the project and site details but drop me a message and I'll send them over.
PPS I realise that this is posted in an inappropriate part of the forum but it isn't obvious where else to post things like this. Maybe we could have a new, more general section for postings about job opportunities, journal special issues, non-ISTA meetings and the like?- I think this could be useful and might help drive more traffic to this site which seems to have been rather neglected since the initial excitement.
